Beautiful Things to Collect

I love a collection - small to large - the idea of having multiples in your home because they bring such joy. From a few cool rocks to wicker elephants there are so many things to collect and so many places to start.

My bedroom in the early 2000s. I was a Beanie Babie collector and a Shania Twain obsessor. Note the animal posters that were taken from an American Girl magazine.

Do you collect? Do you like the idea but never see the right joy? See if any of these ideas spark an interest or an idea. What would you want to hunt for? What would look right at home in your place?

Anything you like can be collected - you can never have too much of the things you love.

Things that could be potentially fun to collect:

  • Seaglass

  • Ceramic flower pots

  • Adorable mugs

  • Elongated coins

  • Teapots

  • Tarot cards

  • Wicker picture frames

  • Vintage tea towels

  • Wooden buttons

  • Needle tomatoes

  • Funky shaped jars

  • Fridge magnets

  • Matchboxes

  • Vintage candy tins

  • Dried flowers

  • Sea ceramics

  • Acorn heads

  • Clown Christmas ornaments

  • Miniature stained glass

  • Unsharpened pencils

  • Tea box ceramic animals

  • State quarters

  • Pennies from your birth year

  • Pillar candles

  • Heart shaped rocks

  • Sea plastic

  • Lost Polaroids

  • Old keys

Collections don’t need to be valuable to be admired and often are more fun to admire when they are worthless. Collecting is meant as a small joy - something for you.

Do not collect for the sake of collecting or there is no delight in the things you have.

Collect what makes you happy, stop collecting or donate pieces whenever it feels right to you. Have fun bringing joy into your home and happy hunting.
