Simple Art: Cinnamon Strippers

This year has been quite stressful so I wanted to bring a little more pizzazz into my holiday decor with some lovely cinnamon dancers.

Supplies -

  • 1 cup ground cinnamon

  • ¾ cup applesauce

  • ¼ cup white school glue

  • Rolling pin

  • Gingerbread men cookie cutters

  • String

  • Straw

  • Acrylic paint or paint pens

Creating -

  1. Mix cinnamon, applesauce and glue in a bowl until it forms a dough.

  2. Roll out dough onto wax paper with a rolling pin to 1/3 inch thickness.

  3. Use Cookie cutters to cut dough and use a straw to punch a hole in the top for ribbon.

  4. Let dry in a cool place 1-2 days, flipping carefully every 12 hours.

  5. Once completely dry, start painting. I prefer acrylic markers to draw more detailed lines.

  6. I started with the tops and bottoms and moved onto faces and fishnets but decorate however your heart desires.

Enjoy your ornaments, they should last for years to come. My husband and I made some in our first apartment way back in college because we didn’t have a lot of ornaments to fill our small tree. We still have some to this day.
