Simple Art: Beaded Glass Curtains
Who didn't love beaded curtains growing up?
But now - the noise, the clean up when a strand breaks - they’re a little unreasonable in my house but I really wanted to capture that energy.
Glass beads are gorgeous and much more elegant - they also act as a suncatcher in the right light. I don’t need to walk through a wall of beads everyday - now a few gorgeous strands are more than enough.
Supplies -
Glass Beads - unfortunately these will not be cheap if you buy them new. I’ve collected mine through the years from thrift stores and yard sales which is where I would recommend checking. If there is another type of bead, colorful wood or plastic you would like to use go for it.
String - I used embroidery floss but theres probably a better option.
A keychain loop for the top
A trinket for the end - you could also use a second loop which I sometimes like to do
A needle - makes it so much easier to thread the beads
Creating -
There’s a million ways to start; if you have a better way please use it. - I started with a long piece of floss and took 3/6 of the strands out to use - threaded my needle so my tails were equal and the needle in the middle. I secured the tail end to the hoop and started threading.
The rest is just beading - pick your colors, pick your styles and bead sizes, and just bead and focus on what brings you joy.
These are for your home, make something you want to see on display everyday.
Mine hang from my living room window, they shine when the sun does.
