I Went for a Hunt Today
I went for a (seaglass) hunt today. The temperature was below freezing this morning and I wanted to see the ocean. The waves are so crisp looking when they’re icy. The tide is higher than usual. Less room for hunting but that's okay.
I saw a seal in the water. Maybe 15 feet from shore. Just one this time. Sometimes I’ll see a few playing together. I’d like to jump in but I’m not built for the water like they are.
It’s been a while since Ive had to put on extra clothes from my car. I’ve been wearing socks with my birkenstocks for a month now but they cannot hold up to the cold of the ocean air. It might be tennis shoe season.
It's quiet out here - in a way I like. One other car today. The same woman I see most days - with her book. We both like large birds.
It’s different now. It feels so busy in summer. Now all the houses on the beach are empty for the season. Just me and the woman with the book come back everyday - I don't know where everyone else goes this season.
